Homestyle Lasagna



  • 1kg WM Meats Premium Beef Mince
  • 100ml beef stock
  • 1 brown onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 4 sprigs thyme chopped
  • 2 x 400g cans crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Oil
  • 1 pkt lasagne sheets
  • ½ cup cheese, grated

White sauce

  • 100g butter
  • 100g plain flour
  • 1 litre milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ onion
  • 3 clove
  • 1 bay leaf


  1. Pre Heat oven to 190’C
  2. In a heated pan sauté onion and garlic until soft and opaque before adding the chopped thyme.
  3. Add mince to pan and cook until golden brown
  4. Add tomato paste and cook for 2 mins
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes and beef stock and bring to the boil for 10 mins before adding the brown sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer till thickened Set aside
  6. Heat milk in a saucepan with onion, clove and bay leaf before bringing it to boil, then simmer.
  7. In another saucepan melt butter. Once melted gradually add flour  
  8. Gradually combine the milk with the butter and flour before gently bring to the boil, whisking until thick and smooth.
  9. In the baking dish layer meat sauce, white sauce and pasta sheets, (making sure the pasta sheets are totally covered).
  10. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese sauce. Scatter over grated cheese.
  11. Cover loosely with foil, bake 20 minutes. Remove foil, bake a further 5-10 minutes until browned.

**Add grated carrot or thinly sliced zucchini for added nutrients
